Can I get treatment on the NHS?

FAQ – Can I get treatment on the NHS? – video 48 seconds

Because of NHS rationing it’s actually extremely difficult to have your varicose veins treated on the NHS nowadays. I don’t think anyone would argue that the NHS should be treating a cosmetic condition. The difficultly with varicose veins is that whilst it’s often a cosmetic condition they can also cause huge amounts of symptoms in some people with varicose veins that look quite mild and can cause very few symptoms in varicose veins that look awful. So it’s actually very difficult for doctors to assess which varicose veins are worthy of treatment on the NHS and which aren’t. So in these days of austerity what the NHS has done is to close the door for virtually all varicose vein treatments on the NHS.
